Villa Lara is set in it's own large very well established gardens and is surrounded by shrubs which give a profusion of flowers including bouganvilla, hibiscus, cactus etc throughout the year. More recently we have included several fruit trees which are already bearing fruit. From the terrace at the front of the villa there are lovely sea views looking over towards Pto del Carmen and Arrecife.
The pool which is 30' in length, has roman steps into it and a handrail for the less mobile. The area is totally private and guests can feel comfortable that they are not overlooked. There are ample sunbeds together with comfortable mattresses (which are kept in container in by pool). Surrounding the terrace are beautiful flowering shrubs, cacti and attractive garden ornaments. There is a small pagoda which provides welcome shelter from the sun and also last year we had two large sunblinds installed on the terrace which again gives respite from the sun. There are also tables and chairs around the terrace which enables guests to dine outside especially when enjoying a BBQ.
The large double bedrooms are very tastefully furnished, the master having sliding patio doors opening out onto the pool area. The ensuite bathroom has jacuzzi bath and separate shower cubicle together with dual sinks. The family bathroom which supplies the twin bedroom also has bath with separate shower cubicle and dual sinks. There are generous wardrobes in both the bedrooms together with ceiling fans and hair dryers. There is also a safe to put your valuables in one of the bedrooms.
The lounge has lovely comfortable corner suite plus one matching armchair. We have just installed a new 40" flatscreen TV which, together with Sky box and the new 3.5metre satellite dish, enables clients to keep up with their regular programmes from England. We have just upgraded to Sky Movies 1 and Sky Sport 1. There is also a DVD Player and CD system plus good selection of DVD's. There are several games and dozens of books for clients' use. For added comfort on the warmer days there is a freestanding fan and in the cooler months our guests have the use of an electric fire in the lounge.
The dining area is on a raised level off the lounge. The well equipped kitchen is adjacent. We have large fridge freezer, microwave, oven/hob and dishwasher 4 slice toaster, electric can opener, blender etc. There is an abundance of crockery, cutlery and glassware.
Because the villa actually has 3 bedrooms (the third is not available to clients) it is extremely well equipped.
The only thing which clients would not have access to is the chiller cabinet in the dining room which is kept locked (owners' bottles!!)
The utility area has a washing machine, iron/ironing board and the cushions for outside furniture.
The swimming pool is cleaned once a week and the maid service is weekly with towel change half way through the week. If guests stay for two weeks then bedlinen and towels are changed at the end of the first week with further towel change half way through second week.
The welcome pack consists of water, milk, tea, coffee, bread and spread - just enough to get you started for your first breakfast. If anything else is required just let me know and I will make the necessary arrangements.

A beautiful Canarian town with a range of shops, bars and restaurants. Tías is a 5km drive inland from Puerto del Carmen and within easy reach of the busy tourist districts. Although it is a predominantly Spanish town, the expat population has grown over recent years, so much that all street signs are now in Spanish and English!

Owner's Tips...
After visiting Lanzarote for many years we bought the villa in 2005 because we thought Tias to be the most central spot on the island and it certainly hasn't disappointed. It is a very lively town with quite a large contingency of English residents and visitors. We have plenty of bars, restaurants, banks, shops etc. It is only 7 minutes from the sandy beaches of Pto del Carmen and also the upmarket marina at Pto Calero. The new golf course is only 3 minutes drive away and for the children there is Rancho Texas only a few minutes drive away.
Whilst car hire is very useful it is not essential - we have had many visitors who have not bothered and had wonderful holidays, using Tias as the main resort and hailing a taxi or using the very good local bus service down to Pto del Carmen.

“Villa Lara has everything you could possibly need. We have spent two glorious weeks there. It is quiet and relaxing, beautiful heated pool and plenty of seating and sun loungers. We made good use of the built in BBQ (every second night we had a BBQ). The kitchen is well equiped and beautifully furnished throughout. Tias it's self is very quiet, but that's what we liked about it, to be away from the hussle and bussle of the main resorts. We hired a car for our second week. That worked well for us as the first week we lay around and relaxed and then were ready to do a bit of sightseeing the second week. Although there are villas all around, Villa Lara is very private, with fences all the way round the garden area. We will definitely be back!”

“Have just returned from our stay in Villa Lara, and thoroughly enjoyed our week there (wish it could have been longer!). Very peaceful and relaxing. This villa is extremely well equipped, even down to a small torch in each bedside locker. Can't think of a bad word to say about it. If you need any provisions out of normal shopping hours, the petrol station at the bottom of the road has a good 'mini market.' Most restaurants are very good. We especially liked Millo y Millo at the roundabout. Nothing pretentious - just a good, friendly atmosphere, with plenty to eat at reasonable prices (starters are generally large, so be warned!). Would certainly recommend Vill Lara.”

“We have now stayed in a handful of villas, mainly in Lanzarote, and would return to this one in a heartbeat. The communication with the owners has been faultless, the villa was exactly as described, and there was not a single negative thing I can say.
We had a car for the time we stayed, but you would be able to enjoy a holiday without one. Numerous quiet bars and restaurants (and taxis), a supermarket, bakeries and pharmacies are maybe a 10 - 15 minute stroll away (with a 5 year old), although initially this is uphill and could be problematic for less mobile people. The airport was around a 10 minute drive, and Tias was perfectly central enough that nowhere was too far to travel to.
The pool was always warm, and the shades proved invaluable during the hottest parts of the day.
We hope to be back next year, but if not, definitely the year after. Many thanks for the opportunity of such a wonderful break.”
