Accommodation description

Mar y Montañas is a large well appointed property which has been recently totally refurbished. It is ideally placed just off the main beach road not far from the Old Harbour in Puerto Del Carmen. The apartment is situated in a small and exclusive complex which has attractive gardens, barbeque area and swimming pool with sun beds. This spacious and airy apartment will accommodate up to five people in comfort and the large south facing terrace has superb sea and mountain views.

Our apartment has direct access to the pool and barbeque area and with 92m2 of living space plus the large terrace there is ample space for all your comforts from two to five people.

The apartment itself comprises a large and very comfortable lounge with settee and armchairs and has satellite television, video/dvd/cd player/ radio with videos and books placed in the bookcase for your use. The full kitchen (should you wish to cook!) has access to the lounge which provides indoor eating space if needed. It has a four ring hob, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle etc.

A long hallway gives access to a bathroom with walk in shower facilities/hairdryer etc. and to the good size bedrooms which comprise one double, one twin and one single (a cot is available for tots at no extra charge). There is also a utility room in which suitcases, push chairs and other items can be stored leaving the apartment space completely free for your comfort and relaxation. The utility room can also be used to use the ironing board and iron and for drying damp clothes, towels etc.

All the bedrooms have ample wardrobe space and the double room has a king size bed. All the bedrooms are situated toward the rear of the property so are quiet and secluded.

The apartment is on the 1st. floor of a three storey block which faces directly south so has the sun on the terrace all of the daylight hours. It is also totally sheltered from the prevalent Lanzarote breezes which come from the north.

The steps from the terrace lead directly to the swimming pool, sun bathing area and barbeque. The terrace is large and is comfortable for private sunbathing and eating when you do not want to go to one of the many restaurants in the area.

As we live on the Island, we are available to help you should you have any problems or needs at any time. The cleaning and bed linen change is once a week although towels are changed twice per week. As well as indoor towels, beach towels are provided so you do not need to bring any of your own.

For those who may smoke we ask that this takes place on the terrace not in the apartment itself.

We ask also that towels are not put on the terrace railing.

Commencement and finish days of your holiday are totally flexible so that you can take advantage of the many different flight offers now available.

We will, normally, collect you from the airport (and return you) at no extra cost because we like so to do. Clearly, if we are "off Island" this service would not be available but you would be advised usually before your holiday.

So that you do not have to do any immediate shopping when you arrive we always leave bottled water, coffee, tea, sugar and milk for your use. In the event that you would like more items please let us know in advance and we will "get them in" for you.

Rubbish can be deposited in the bins provided in the road opposite the complex.

For large clothes washes there is a laundrette in the Plaza Azul nearby the complex.

Our pricing reflects the wish to offer good holiday value for our guests; we charge just £250 per week for two people with £50 per week per person above two. A cot can be provided at no extra charge. The above charges are year round with no “hidden extras”.

About 15 minutes drive from Arrecife airport, Puerto del Carmen offers 5km of broad, pale sandy beaches as well as a wide variety of places to eat and drink and it remains a popular destination for holidaymakers from far and wide. Made up of a ‘new’ and ‘old’ town, Puerto del Carmen has no high-rise structures and almost all buildings are white and unpretentious.

For nightlife in Puerto del Carmen you can watch the locals taking part in a few games of boules in the old town, which seems to be a nightly occurrence. The old town also offers a great variety of restaurants serving fresh fish, while if you head off into the holiday area you'll find everything from traditional English sports bars to Chinese restaurants.

Owner's Tips...

Although the apartment is situated only 2 minutes from the main beaches it is very quiet and ideal for relaxation. All the shops, restaurants and entertainments are within a "stone's throw"

The Old Harbour which is a pleasant 15 minutes walk away offers numerous restaurants all of which offer good food at very reasonable prices in a very pretty surrounding.

There are many restaurants in Puerto and along the Beach Road all of which serve good quality food at reasonable prices.

The new Golf Course between Pto Del Carmen and Tias is now fully open with fully grassed fairways. It is only a 5 minute walk away from the apartment . There is also a course at Costa Teguise which is about 15 minutes taxi ride away. So a weeks golfing holiday is now possible with these two different courses.

If you wish to rent a car during your stay just let us know when you are here and we will be able to get the best rates for you.

“I have not been lucky enough to have a holiday for some 10 years due to family commitments etc etc. So needless to say I was alittle apprehensive as to the whole traveling and holiday experience.

My father bless him, is 70 and he badly needed a holiday after being very unwell and in and out of hospitals for the past 2 years.
So a holiday it was............

On arrival at the airport Mike kindly picked my father, my friend and myself up with all our luggage and my fathers wheelchair, what a star, he was a godsend. Mike drove a short trip and we arrived at our apartment to be greeted by his lovely wife Pat.
Pat showed us around our apartment, its was very well kept, clean and modern with plenty of amenities.
The apartment had all the comforts of home and a kitchen with every convenience, Pat even had water, coffee, sugar all waiting for us.. what a sweety.
Pat and Mike gave us a guide and run through of how things worked, the area etc etc then bid us farewell and left us enjoy our holiday.
I walked onto the Verandah with a much needed coffee thanks to Pats thoughtfulness, sat down and took a deep sign of contentment , I was amazed by the whole complex, the scenery was beautiful and the pool was very inviting I just wanted to dive straight in.
We enjoyed many lazy days by the pool, the complex is a must for those that want away from the hustle and bustle of hotels and lots of people.
The beach was only a 5 minute walk away and we had shops and supermarkets only a short distance from the apartment. everything was in walking distance which was ideal as I had my father in his wheelchair. The food was excellent and the people were all lovely and so helpful.

Pat arrived a week later with clean towels and linen and changed all the beds.
(Dont get help like that back home).

We all enjoyed our holiday immensely.
The holiday passed so quickly and the whole experience had left us all wanting to stay, but sadly all good things come to an end.
On our departure Mike & Pat arrived and Mike kindly drove us back to the airport.
You will never meet a more down to earth, delightful, caring couple and your stay in their lovely apartment will be a plesant one.

“My husband, 2 children (aged 12 and 14) and myself stayed here for 2 weeks at the end of July 2011.
We were picked up from the airport by Mike the owner and on arrival at the apartment we were greeted by his wife Pat who showed us around. They were very informative of the area and of places to visit and places to eat and shop.
The apartment itself is very comfortable and very spacious, well equipped kitchen (should you wish to cook) and there are also plenty of books, games and films should you find yourself with nothing to do!!!
The apartment is in a small gated complex and just a 5 minute walk (down a hill) to the main strip. The pool is lovely and cleaned daily with plenty of sunbeds!
If we were to holiday in Lanzarote again I would most certainly return to this apartment.”

“First of all I must apologise to the lovely owners for my delayed review of their property which is due to other commitments and certainly no reflection on our stay. My partner, 2 children, mother-in-law and myself stayed at this apartment in the Easter holidays. We were welcomed warmly by the owners who kindly waited without complaint when our flight was delayed and happily showed us around the apartment explaining anything we needed. They recommended eating places, places of interest etc and made themselves available for any advice we may require. The apartment is extremely spacious, with a very useful store room that had a treasure trove for the children, including games, inflatables, boogie boards and just about as many towels as we could use. The kitchen was very well equipped, milk, coffee, tea, water already waiting for us, shelves stocked with books, videos etc, the list is endless. The apartment is traditional in design but therefore feels very homely, it is exceptionaly clean, bedding, towels, bathroom, kitchen (all the things of concern) couldn't be better and we will without question be booking to return and recommending to others to visit.”

About us
Pat and I came to Lanzarote for the first time in January 2000 to get over flu which managed to spoil our Millennium celebrations. We were here for one week, hired a car, went round the Island and fell in love with it.

We looked at lots of apartments during the week and by the end of it we had bought Mar Y Montañas! For the first two years we did not rent it out at all but kept it exclusively for our own use going to Lanzarote and staying in the apartment several times each year for a month or so during the UK winter. We loved the apartment, it's quiet and beautiful location with wonderful views yet so close to everything "going on" when we wanted it. During those early days we improved the facilities at the apartment. We had wonderful times and came to love the life so much that we decided, on one of our visits, to live full time in Lanzarote. We knew where we wanted to be and were able to have our villa built just how we wanted it. We were then able to rent out Mar y Montañas and were able to give others the opportunity to get to love Lanzarote. That was seven years ago! We love it still!

More recently, we have had the apartment completely renovated. Generally, we collect our guests from the airport as we like to meet and greet people and get there holiday off to a relaxed start. We have made many friends of guests and many return year after year (I must remember to ask them to write reviews!).

What we love about our property
The location is perfect for a relaxed holiday in a small quiet (21 apartments only) complex of private apartments individually owned. The beautiful (and totally safe) beach is a stone's throw away which enabled me to be in the sea swimming every morning by 0800hrs!

The views over the sea and to the mountains are stunning and the mountain views particularly seem different every day because of the shifting fluffy white clouds. The gardens are very pleasant and private as is the swimming pool.

We are lucky enough to be used to having space; the apartment itself is spacious with the three bedrooms accessed by a longish hallway. The utility room means that all luggage can be stored out of the way after unpacking into the large wardrobes etc.

The central location also means that everything is in easy walking distance no matter what it is you may want to do. A car is not necessary at all unless you want to tour the Island under your own steam.
